4.  What kind of shampoo/conditioner/toothpaste do you use?: “Paul Mitchell’s Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shampoo and Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree Lavender Mint Conditioner- they are great for my thick hair. Crest 3D white toothpaste.”

5.  What do you use as a day/night cream?: “Velocity Gel Moisturizer in AM, Mary Kay Oil Free Hydrator in PM and always their Soothing Eye Gel- it moisturizes and depuffs- great when I don’t get enough sleep or my allergies act up!”

6.  Which make-up brands are you using?: “Mary Kay Mineral Makeup, lip balm and Lash Love Mascara.”

7.  What is your beauty secret when you fly to keep your skin in great condition?: “Drink plenty of water and sleep on the plane.”

8.  What is your fitness workout?: “I play sports (Cheer, lacrosse, competitive swim team) year round so I get to condition pretty well through them.  I love to run with my dad too- he’s ran several marathons!”

9. What’s in your bag?:  “I don’t like purses, but I do carry a wristlet with my iphone, money, gum and lip balm!”

10.  What’s on your iPod play list?: “It changes constantly!  But right now my top 3 artists are Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Nikki Minaj.”

12.  How do you prepare yourself when you go on a trip for a shoot?: “I bring snacks and my own foundation and I try to get a really good night’s sleep beforehand too!”

13.  What’s the brand of sunglasses you wear?: “Juicy,  D&G and Starstruck.”

14.  Tell us your favorite city and favorite spot to hangout.:  “NYC. My favorite spot is anywhere along 5th Avenue!”

15.  What was your biggest modeling job so far?: “For Gladys of course!”

16. Favorite thing about modeling?: “I can show all the different sides of my personality through modeling.  It’s like an art form.”

Nakate is founded by Shanley Knox. Knox spent an extended period of time reporting on AIDS in Kakooge, Uganda and because of this, the company designs feature boldly colored pieces imported from Kagooge, along with hand-crafted additions from Portland based designers Andrea Angell and Jamieson Diemer and California designer Selena Martino. Nakate’s jewelery is primarily comprised of eco-friendly materials.

This Portland based company supports female artisans in the third world through buying their goods at a rate higher than the market price. By doing this, they hope to help bring attention to cultural, religious, and economic issues effecting women.
